September 2024 Gallery Show: “Unraveling the Narrative”

Unraveling the Narrative September 6 – September 28

Gallery Hours: Tuesday – Saturday 11am – 4pm
Opening Reception: September 6, 6pm-9pm
at our downtown gallery, 1213 Cornwall Ave, Bellingham, WA 98225

Step into the Allied Art’s “Unraveling the Narrative,” where each artist delves into themes of personal growth, vulnerability, surprise, self-discovery, and consciousness. The varied techniques and materials employed showcase a collective dedication to individual expression and artistic exploration. The opening reception for this show will include a stunning performance by singer Sheila Grady.

Nico Lund explores disruptions in personal growth using painting, print/book arts, typewritten text, altered objects, music/video. Nico’s creations embody personal vulnerability and aim to resonate on a universally personal level.

Susan Kramer-Pope paints with the intention of being surprised by the outcome of her work. Each painting evolves moment by moment as she listens and follows the creative nudges of color, brush, and stroke.

Chris Romine is an experimental mixed media artist who employs cement, various resists, cold wax, metal, gold leaf, and collage. Images in texture and bold colors depict her free and fun style.

Frank Frazee creates paintings, drawings, and sculptures primarily using recycled materials. His repertoire includes portraits, still life compositions, and nature scenes.

Allied Arts is a non-profit gallery, all proceeds from sales go towards supporting the arts in our community.

August 07, 2024 – by Melissa Morin, Assistant Communications Director

Capture the essence of Bellingham with your camera and share your photos in the 19th annual Essence of Bellingham Photo Competition. Photographers of all ages and skill levels can submit photos that express what it’s like to be a part of our fabulous city – from the moments that make up daily life to the iconic celebrations we enjoy.

Entries may be submitted, free of charge, now through October 1, 2024. Winners will be selected in several categories: Best of Show, Best of Class, Best of Category and Honorable Mention. One photo will also be selected to receive the Climate Action Award, given to an image that gives perspective to our community’s actions to address climate change.

The City of Bellingham and the Whatcom Museum created the annual photo competition to highlight what we love most about our community and honor the artists who capture it. Winning entries are added to the Whatcom Museum’s photo archives and may also appear on BTV, in City publications, or on the City’s website and social media.

Find competition details, an entry form and an archive of previous winners at cob.org/eob.
