Background
The Nooksack Tribe is seeking a sculpture, carving, unique bench, or other type of artwork to install at the entrance to the planned Community Justice Center that will be housed in the previous Casino building in Deming. Exterior work is preferred. This request for artwork is made possible through the generosity of a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, and the Nooksack Tribal government.

Artwork Criteria: The purpose of this artwork will be to provide a welcoming and attractive addition to the entrance to the building, and to convey the Tribe’s goal of ensuring excellent justice services for the Nooksack people.

Required Qualifications – Priority review will be given to local and regional Native artists.
 Artwork must be an original design
 Low maintenance
 Safe for public interaction and appropriate for public display
 Easy installation and site preparation
 Able to withstand area weather conditions

Mid-September 2023 Selection team convenes
Week of October 16, 2023 Selected artwork announced
Late fall 2023 Installation
