A six week class one evening a week designed for intermediate and advanced students. Enrolled students
will bring three design ideas for their project to the first class. After discussion each student will choose one
for the class project and prepare a plan of action. Together in class we will prepare an order for materials.
The next five weeks will be studio time to put your plan into action with an instructor close at hand to
answer questions that arise. During the last class we will take photos of your final pieces and have a
lessons-learned / critique discussion. This course will walk you through the whole design process – from start to finish, strengthen your metalsmithing skills and help you problem solve in the studio. Students should have a basic understanding of forging metals using hammers and stakes, piercing and use of the jeweler’s saw, sanding, polishing, filing and finishing techniques. Prerequisites: Students 18 yrs or older with Basic Jewelry Metalsmithing skills. Instructor: Sacha Bliese.
