Through December 2, Michael Dinning: Exploring What Lies Hidden, at the Jansen Art Center Spokane artist Michael Dinning believes that the essence and mystery of life is defined by the interplay of those things seen and not seen. He has long been intrigued by the idea of trying to depict the hidden. His creative process embraces this idea. Dinning begins by generating imagery and focus through writing. Often, this writing is included in his finished artwork. Dinning also utilizes a variety of under-painting techniques and chooses to show all of the hardware used in the construction of his artwork. The combination of these steps allow those things normally hidden during the creative process to become part of his finished artwork.
