The Japanese American artist Isamu Noguchi (1904–1988) was one of the 20th century’s most acclaimed artists. The exhibition brings more than 40 sculptures and drawings together—comprising 60 years of Noguchi’s long career—to explore the various forms that the theme of skyviewing takes in his art. One of Noguchi’s most ambitious explorations of the theme is the 14-foot high Skyviewing Sculpture that he created in 1969 for Western’s central plaza. It is a key work in Western’s celebrated sculpture collection.
