What is RARE?
It started with Bellingham artist Thor Myhre’s urge to encourage and celebrate creative reuse in the arts and other industries. With the support of the business partners listed below, RARE came into being.
RARE will be held in various venues in beautiful downtown Bellingham and will cater to an array of green art, science, and design curiosities with a strong emphasis on educational workshops, speakers, entertainment, exhibits, performances, and vendors.
Attendees will be inspired to take home innovative ideas that recognize the value of using resources creatively and forging new avenues for reuse in other industries.
RARE Goals:
-
Feature an Expo Hall at the American Museum of Radio and Electricity with entertainment, classes, and booths, as well as recycled art exhibits at Whatcom Museum, Allied Arts and much more!
-
Demonstrate that art from re-purposed materials can contribute to and inspire the green movement.
-
Provide resources, opportunities, techniques and supplies for green art.
-
Promote artists, as well as arts facilities and organizations that incorporate a sustainability component in their facilities/programming.
