"A Dream of a Teacup" - The Whimsical Life & Fantasy of Teacups!
I enjoy the delicate qualities from a teacup. Everything from the act of having tea time, to sharing it with others, and even to look upon a set of teacups sitting on display in a side board cupboard like my grandma used to have in her home. Dish sets and fibers remind me of my families heritage and a narrative of lives cherished. I create different kinds of mixed-media, sculpture, ceramics, fibers/fabrics, and drawings. The use of recycling old items into new ideas of either the beauty in art, or functionality are both ways I like to incorporate into my work. Contact: Rachel Simpson email chaneecat@gmail.com
Allied Arts of Whatcom County, in partnership with the Downtown Bellingham Partnership and the City of Bellingham, is launching Creative Spaces, a juried show of temporary art exhibits and installations that will enliven the darkened windows of vacated facilities along Cornwall Avenue with art from the community and create an attraction along this primary downtown corridor.
This project is part of an upcoming effort by the City of Bellingham to update the City Center Master Plan, the guiding document for downtown revitalization.
We would like to thank the Whatcom Community Foundation for their generous support of this program in 2013.
